March 21 is the International Day of Forests<\/strong>, a date created by the United Nations<\/strong> to raise awareness of the importance of preserving what we have and conserving to rebuild<\/strong> what we have already lost<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

When we think of forests, we immediately imagine a closed forest, or we think of the Amazon rainforest… And it’s true, we need to stop illegal deforestation<\/strong> and burning<\/strong> and defend this important biome! But forests go beyond the Amazon in Brazil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The Caatinga, <\/strong>for example, is a unique biome on the planet and needs attention! The semi-arid region already suffers from natural degradation due to climatic conditions, but today it is also suffering the consequences of climate change<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Our Caatinga forest could become a veritable desert at a frightening rate. We need to think about climate change, global warming <\/strong>and also fires and deforestation!<\/p>\n\n

Is there any way back? Can we still save our forests?<\/em><\/strong> It’s this urgency that we’re talking about today with Professor Aldo Sales!<\/strong> Zootechnician, specialist in ecology and environmental management, master in livestock innovations, doctor in ecosystem management! He is currently a professor in the Postgraduate Program in Environmental Technologies at the Pernambuco Institute of Technology<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n
