This week, Pernambuco stopped to watch a 250-ton transformer<\/strong> cross the entire state on its way to Para\u00edba. A slow and gigantic transport, more than 113 meters long. <\/p>\n\n

There were parties, people in the street, newspaper articles, interviews, music and lots and lots of jokes wherever it went. But crossing the transformer is just the tip of the iceberg. <\/p>\n\n

It has become commonplace on the roads of our state to see large wind turbines crossing<\/strong>, going up and down. The scenery is changing in the countryside, with more and more wind farms being installed on what used to be original forests, farmers’ land and animal land<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The 250-ton transformer and all the other parts of the wind turbines that have passed and will pass only reflect the hypocrisy and the lie that energy is clean.<\/p>\n\n

We lose forests, land, animals<\/strong> – who run away because of the noise and die on the roads. Farmers get sick and lose sleep because of the deafening noise of the turbines<\/strong>. Depression, deafness. <\/strong>A sick countryside<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The threat of wind energy<\/strong> is already here – in our state. <\/strong> We need to discuss it. And it is to talk about this very important issue that we have invited Eurenice da Silva<\/strong> – a member of the Agreste Pastoral Land Commission (CPT – Agreste) and a member of the Agreste Agroecology Network of Pernambuco (REAGRO) – to our virtual panel. <\/p>\n\n
