Our program today talks about research, living conditions<\/strong> and the LGBT+ population in rural areas of the Northeast<\/strong>. In the last week of February 2025, Centro Sabi\u00e1, CETRA, the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte and the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) launched the publication: “The Reality of the LGBT+ Population in the Rural Environment of Northeastern Brazil: A Quantitative Survey.”<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

The research aims to investigate the living conditions of the LGBT+ population<\/strong> living in rural areas of the Northeast<\/strong>. The idea is to survey this population in a place where there is so much difficulty due to the lack of data<\/strong> on their social situation. <\/p>\n\n

This is because this population is usually invisible<\/strong> in quantitative surveys, i.e. research based on numerical analysis<\/strong>. The research “The Reality of the LGBT+ Population in the Rural Environment of Northeast Brazil: A Quantitative Survey”<\/strong> was launched in February. And today, after the surveys, we’re going to talk about the possible impacts<\/strong> that these data bring! <\/p>\n\n

Let’s hear a bit about what happened at the launch of this survey, with testimonials from participants, future developments and much more! We also heard from Rafael Toitio, <\/strong>who led the research. He is part of the team researching the living conditions of the LGBT+ rural population in the Northeast region. Sociologist, PhD in Social Sciences and professor at IFRN, the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte. <\/p>\n\n
