On today\u2019s program, we\u2019re heading out onto the streets to hear a cry that has been echoing through the streets of Recife and all across Brazil for more than 30 years: it\u2019s the Cry of the Excluded<\/strong>. We ask: What is there to cry out about?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

On September 7, while Brazil commemorates the Cry of Independence, military parades, and military aircraft displays, thousands of people also take to the streets to give a voice to those who are often not heard.<\/p>\n\n

It is the Cry of the Excluded<\/strong>, which will mark its 32nd edition<\/strong> in 2026. A collective effort to raise our voices and articulate the demands of all of us. A process that stems from grassroots struggles and brings to the streets the grievances, hopes, and demands of those fighting for their rights. <\/p>\n\n

And there\u2019s one question that cuts across all of this: in an election year<\/strong>, when we\u2019ll also be deciding the country\u2019s future, what do we need to shout about?<\/p>\n\n

Today, we\u2019re going to talk about the 32nd Cry of the Excluded<\/strong>, looking at Brazil, but also at our own region. That\u2019s what we\u2019ll be discussing with Enildo Luiz Gouveia\u2014a professor with a Ph.D. in Geography. He teaches at IFPE\/Recife. He\u2019s part of the coordinating team for the Dom Helder C\u00e2mara Forum, which organizes the Cry of the Excluded in Recife! <\/p>\n\n
