January 21st is Religious Intolerance Day! An important date in the racial, social, and of course, religious struggle! Much of the prejudice against religions of African origin is linked to the past of racism and slavery that, even after years, still greatly influences our country.

The Day to Combat Religious Intolerance is a date that serves to alert our country about a historic problem: The disrespect for different beliefs – especially in a country as mixed, mixed, full of cultures and beliefs – like ours. It is not a date of commemoration, but a date of denunciation and resistance, to so many religious discrimination, faced daily.

That’s why today Cantos do Sabiá, our weekly podcast, comes to talk about it! And it’s to talk to us, who today participates in the program the cultural journalist Marileide Alves! She is the author of the books Nação Xambá from the terreiro to the stages , and Povo Xambá resists: 80 years of repression against the terreiros of Pernambuco .

Cantos do Sabiá is the Sabiá Center Podcast! Weekly we discuss agroecology, sustainability and politics in the countryside and in the city! The podcast airs every Monday, with the complete edition of the interview that originally made up the Center’s radio program.
