Food, hunger and climate change | Cantos do Sabiá
João Lucas França – Radio host and communicator for the Sabiá Center.
October 16 is World Food Day. A date that raises these conversations about food, quality food in quantity for the whole world!
But we have to talk about this date again in the midst of a global food crisis. The world suffers from hunger, and Brazil is no exception; the “State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2023” report shows that 21.1 million Brazilians were severely food insecure last year. More than 125 million have suffered food insecurity during the pandemic.
On top of this, we are living through an environmental crisis, with the accelerated warming of the earth and extreme climate change. For those who produce food – real food – this has a profound impact. So, between food, hunger and climate change, what is to be done?
And it’s to talk about this very important topic that we’re inviting to our table today – a well-known name here on the show. Participating once again, the biologist, popular educator, Alexandre Henrique Pires! He is the Director for Combating Desertification at the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.
Cantos do Sabiá is the Centro Sabiá’s Podcast! Weekly we discuss agroecology, sustainability and politics in the countryside and in the city! The podcast goes live every Monday, with the complete interview edition that originally made up the Center’s radio program. https://spoti.fi/31VtUj5
