Climate justice in the capital of inequality? | Real Food
João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.
Comida de Verdade came to discuss climate justice in the capital of inequality.
Weather disasters are no longer as uncommon as they were a few years ago. In fact, they are annual events – predictable and announced. But in all the capitals most affected by extreme weather, such as Recife today, it still seems to come as a surprise whenever it happens.
You know what’s not surprising? Who is most affected by the climate emergency. Hills, slopes, high places, riverbanks, canals… Who suffers, who dies in the announced tragedies of Recife and so many other capitals in Brazil? Fighting for climate justice in one of the country’s most unequal capitals is a must!
But what about climate justice in the capital of inequality? That’s what we’re talking about now with Afroecological farmer Nzinga Cavalcante. Nzinga is a mother, an agroecology technician at Serta and a graduate student in Agroecology, Peasantry and Popular Education at UFRPE. Financial director of the Sítio Agatha Education, Art, Culture and Agroecology Association.
Comida de Verdade is your Saturday program to talk about food and agroecology, valuing our markets and local culture.
