Sabiá Center inaugurates Library and honors Vanderlucia Maria da Silva
Maria Menezes,
Sabiá Center Communication Intern
We dreamed a lot about this moment, we worked, and in the month in which we completed 30 years, we realized: the Sabiá Center Library is officially inaugurated and honors Vanderlucia Maria da Silva (in memory) . Libraries are spaces where revolutions can be born, so it is only right that here we bear the name of this woman who was revolutionary in her work and militancy.
Founding partner of Centro Sabiá, Vanderlucia was a journalist, critic of the concentration of media in the big networks, defender of popular communication, mother and continued to defend human rights and a better world until the day of her departure. Vanderlucia was delighted, but her fight remained!
The inauguration, which took place last Friday (21), was filled with memories and a lot of emotion. Friends and family of the founder participated in the moment together with the Sabiá Center team and people who were part of our journey. Our library, in addition to honoring Vanderlucia, remembers each one who passed through the Sabiá nest. The names stamped on the door remind us of the importance of each person in transforming so many lives so far.
“In the pandemic we dreamed that we wanted to reactivate the library, so that people could access it, because it is a heritage not only of the Sabiá Center[…] The library is named after Vanderlucia, who brought communication into Sbiá, from the perspective that we believe, a communication that humanizes people. Sabiá’s communication is at the center of our action.” Carlos Magno, our Social Mobilization Coordinator, highlighted during the inauguration of the space.
We continue our work honoring those who have gone before and working for those who are to come.
Nothing found.
