The institutions that make up the Semi-Arid Articulation in Pernambuco (ASA/PE) met on February 22 and 23 for the first plenary session of the 2024 state network, held in the city of Triunfo, in the Sertão.

The first day of the event was an evaluation of the actions and achievements of 2023 and discussions on the current political situation and the challenges for 2024. The second was about planning work and strengthening the network for 2024, as well as the State Plenary in preparation for the X ENCONASA.

Also on the agenda was a presentation on the implementation of the Cistern Programs, P1MC, Cisterns in Schools and P1+2, which were resumed by the Lula government in partnership with ASA Brasil, benefiting thousands of families in the Semi-Arid.

The state president of ASA/PE, Paulo Pedro de Carvalho, stressed the importance of the meeting for planning actions and strengthening the ASA Network in the state. “It was a very productive moment, where we focused on the balance of last year and were able to make notes on what is important to plan for this year, so that we can continue to strengthen this network space in Pernambuco and contribute to the processes of ASA Brazil,” he said.

On the agenda, the president analyzed the importance of resuming the water access programs implemented by ASA. “In addition to bringing a set of technologies and actions to benefit families in the states where ASA operates, the Cisterns Program strengthens and expands our capacity to act in the field of training and social mobilization for coexistence with the semi-arid region,” he said.
