Planting Agroecology: What changes? | Real Food

João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

Comida de Verdade asks: by planting agroecology, what change? You may already know about Recife’s first agricultural school for women – the Marias School: Women and Urban Farmers in the Metropolitan Region of Recife (RMR).

The Marias School is an initiative of the Sabiá Center, together with the Center for Agroecology and Peasantry at UFRPE, and also with the Movement of Homeless Workers (MTST). The school has the support of the National Urban Agriculture Program and comes from a parliamentary amendment by federal deputy Túlio Gadelha.

The school has already been active, planting agroecology in the Metropolitan Region of Recife since April of this year. Six months later, what have we planted? Today, we’re going to talk about the experiences of change in the city, in planting… in the lives of so many urban farmers!

Manuela Mendonça , a farmer, is chatting to us ! Manuela is part of the Horta Sonho de Viver and participates in the MARIAS School: Women and Urban Farmers in the Metropolitan Region of Recife (RMR), as a farmer.
