What role do organizations play in food? | Real Food

João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

Talking about real food means coming face to face with data. The data of those who finance hunger, those who profit from food insecurity. We already understand the role of agribusiness in destroying our forests and fields.

We also understand the role of the big companies, the multinationals, in the production of ultra-processed and poisonous foods.

And it’s important to say: we understand that we need to fight. To fight for a different kind of food. For another globalization of food. To fight for an agroecological, poison-free future. This struggle is part of who we are as a society.

So… what is the role of organizations – NGOs and CSOs – in food in Brazil? What role do these organizations play in civil society’s fight for real food, against poison?

We’re going to talk about these spaces today. For a different kind of food: agroecological food. Rafael Araújo – Lawyer, consultant at Ser Social, President of OSC Samaritanos, co-founder of the Unified Collective for the Homeless, and regional director of Instituto Fome de Tudo. We also spoke to Maria Cristina – General Coordinator of Centro Sabiá, agronomist, agroecology and human rights activist!
