Agroecology without violence against women | Cantos do Sabiá

João Lucas França – Radio host and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

Agroecology without violence against women! This is more than a motto, it’s a protest for an end to violence against women! The data doesn’t lie: according to the Brazilian Public Safety Forum, they are the ones who suffer violence on a daily basis in our country, cities, neighborhoods and communities. The average is very unfortunate: every year, 1,319 women are victims of feminicide, which is murder due to gender violence. Every week, 25 women are killed. That’s an average of four women a day. Every seven hours, there is a femicide in our country.

The data is terrible, but very common – and also very close to our daily lives; violence happens all around us, without us even realizing it. Without many of us taking action. How can this culture of violence be stopped? Agroecology does not go hand in hand with violence! There is no agroecology with violence against women.

Adriana do Nascimento , an agroecological family farmer and trade unionist, joins us today to talk about this struggle ! She is the director of women’s policies at FETAPE – the Federation of Rural Workers and Family Farmers of the State of Pernambuco.

Cantos do Sabiá is the Centro Sabiá’s Podcast! Weekly we discuss agroecology, sustainability and politics in the countryside and in the city! The podcast goes live every Monday, with the complete interview edition that originally made up the Center’s radio program. https://spoti.fi/31VtUj5
