Coordination of the Sabiá Center visits water reuse and agroforestry systems installed in Triunfo (PE)
On the occasion, coordinator Alexandre Pires also heard from the Oiticica community some demands and proposals for improving the projects
With 13 RAC/SAF systems (Grey Water Reuse/Agroforestry System) installed in the community of Oiticica, rural area of Triunfo (Sertão do Pajeú, PE), the coordinator of the Sabiá Center, Alexandre Pires, was able to check the needs and challenges in loco. of the system, hearing from the community some installation difficulties and improvement proposals for the year 2022. “This is a project that is in progress and already shows its ability to reuse water as a strategy for Coexistence with the Semi-arid region and promotion of Agroecology.”, says Alexandre.
While in the community of farmer Antônio Lucena, the system is in a satisfactory development, with agroforestry in good development and varieties such as palm, aroeira, guava, mandacaru, pigeon pea, lemon tree, sabiá and other varieties, in the community of farmer Josias Pereira, the process faces the challenge of developing on steep terrain and the need for fencing to prevent animals from entering. “These challenges show opportunities for improvements in systems and the appropriation by families of systems that fulfill the role of rural sanitation and at the same time guarantee a practice of soil recovery, biodiversity and the production of healthy food for people and for the animals”, highlights Alexandre.
