Semi-arid: Living with extreme climates | Cantos do Sabiá
João Lucas França – Radio host and communicator for the Sabiá Center.
Semi-arid. Region of low rainfall, high evaporation of water, long droughts. Semi-arid is Caatinga, Cerrado, low vegetation, it’s Northeast! But do you know what is semi-arid? The semi-arid is life! There are more than 27 million Brazilians.
For a long time it was believed that because of the climatic difficulties, the lack of rain, and the scarcity of water it would be impossible to live in the semi-arid territories, but today we see resistant zones, with food production, agro-forestry, and their own techniques. With life, producers of agroecology. Living with the semi-arid and extreme climates! Life pulsates in the semiarid – and it is about this life and coexistence that we will talk today!
To chat with us, we invited Aldrin Marin to join our panel ! Aldrin has a degree in agricultural sciences, a master’s degree in agronomy, specializing in soils and plant nutrition, a doctorate in nuclear energy in agriculture and the environment, and a post-doctorate in agro-ecology. He is a researcher at INSA – National Institute of the Semi-arid.
Cantos do Sabiá is the Centro Sabiá’s Podcast! Weekly we discuss agroecology, sustainability and politics in the countryside and in the city! The podcast goes live every Monday, with the complete interview edition that originally made up the Center’s radio program. https://spoti.fi/31VtUj5
