Throughout the day on Monday (30), around 20 women farmers from the municipalities of Cumaru and Orobó took part in workshops on Communication and Expression and Gender, in the municipality of Cumaru. The action is part of the Mãos que Alimentam project, carried out by the Sabiá Center, with the support of Manus Unidas.
In the morning, Rosa Sampaio, a journalist from the Sabiá Center, facilitated a workshop on Popular Communication, Expression and Social Participation, working with the women on the human right to communication and the importance of oral and bodily communication, bringing the important elements into their routine and encouraging their social participation.
“The aim of the workshop was to stimulate oral expression and the social participation of rural women, through dynamics, theater and exercises that encourage self-confidence and body movements,” explains Rosa.
In the afternoon, Cristiane Lina, a member of the Movement of Rural Women Workers (MMTR-NE) and the World March of Women, facilitated one of the workshops in the political training cycle, focusing on gender, racial issues and women’s organization.
“Today I worked on the gender and feminism module, which aimed to promote integration among them, provide a reflection on the role of women in society from a feminist perspective and bring up the importance of women’s self-organization and sorority,” said Cristine.
The next module to be worked on will be race and ethnicity. In addition to providing technical support to women farmers in these municipalities, the project aims to promote their participation and social and political organization.
