Earth Day Journey | Cantos do Sabiá

João Lucas França – Radio host and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

Today is the day to talk about our common home, the day to talk about the earth! April 22 is the day we celebrate Pachamama Day, the day of the soil we walk on, Earth Day!

It’s a whole month for discussions about the Earth, about the people of the Earth, our discussions for the here and now, but also for the future. Thinking about the Earth from the ground we stand on, from where we are, is fundamental to understanding that these are different times, different climates, increasingly challenging for environmental protection, and that we need to unite more than ever to defend our home.

That’s exactly why the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco’s Earth Day Journey is taking place throughout April 2024! Earth Day, organized by UFRPE in partnership with various associations, is an initiative to raise awareness and preserve the environment. A global celebrationthat takes place every year, dedicated to mobilizing people to fight for the planet.

We need to promote reflections and actions that help protect and sustain our home, the Pachamama, our earth. Professor Marcos Figueiredo, from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) and founding partner of the Sabiá Center, will join us to talk about this topic. He holds a master’s degree in sociology, a doctorate and a post-doctorate in agroecology.

Cantos do Sabiá is the Centro Sabiá’s Podcast! Weekly we discuss agroecology, sustainability and politics in the countryside and in the city! The podcast goes live every Monday, with the complete interview edition that originally made up the Center’s radio program. https://spoti.fi/31VtUj5
