Are you afraid of the rain? | Real Food
João Lucas França – Radio host and communicator for the Sabiá Center.
Comida de Verdade has a question for you, who live in the Metropolitan Region of Recife: Are you afraid of the rain? Rain has become synonymous with fear in recent years.
But not for fear of getting wet. It’s just that the rain has turned into chaos. Floods, puddles, falling barriers, landslides, short circuits and, unfortunately, many deaths .
Since 2022, when Pernambuco experienced the greatest tragedy of the century, with more than 120 deaths caused by so many climatic events, including the rain, we still haven’t recovered.
We’ve reached June, the month of the rains , according to data from APAC – the Pernambuco Water and Climate Agency. It is during the period April to July that the greatest accumulations of rainfall occur. Are you afraid of the rain? Or the effects of the rain, and the unpreparedness of a metropolitan region like ours? Afraid of the rain, or of the disasters, the losses, the annual deaths?
Raquel Ludermir, who holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in urban development, talks to us about the subject ! She is an architect and urban planner.
