Caatinga and COP30: Is there a climate for the COP in Brazil? | Real Food

João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

In 2025, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP30, will take place here on Brazilian soil. On Monday, November 10, COP30 begins in Brazil, in Belém do Pará – a historic moment to discuss increasingly extreme climate change.

But is the climate right for COP30 in Brazil? To talk about climate change today, directly from Brazil, is to talk about a place that, in many ways, is already facing extreme climates, is already feeling the effects of climate change and is already living this reality.

On the other hand, we’re kicking off a “warm-up” for COP30, to talk about climate change directly from the ground! It’s Caatinga Climate Week, the Caatinga Climate Week, which ‘paves the way’ for the global event!

That’s what we’re talking about today: to understand how COP30 will work in Brazil and what our role is in this major event.
