The mood of Environment Week – Cantos do Sabiá

João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

June 5th is World Environment Day. It’s a very important date to mark the debate and dialog about the environment, nature, agroecology and all the issues that encompass life on our planet.

That’s why we call this first week of June Environment Week. A whole week to discuss issues related to life on our planet and building a more sustainable future.

But talking about the environment needs to be more than talking about biomes, plants or trees. The environment is the whole. It’s people, biodiversity, territories, climates and the relationships we build with nature. It’s also about discussing the social, economic and political challenges that influence people’s quality of life and the preservation of natural resources.

And what is the mood of this Environment Week in an election year? We invited José Nunes, a professor at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco and a member of the Brazilian Association of Agroecology, to our podcast to talk about this important topic. An agronomist with a master’s degree in Rural Extension and a doctorate in Sociology, he works in the areas of Agroecology, Popular Education and Territorial Development.

Cantos do Sabiá is the Sabiá Center Podcast! Every week we discuss agroecology, sustainability and politics in the countryside and the city! The podcast goes live every Monday, with the complete interview edition that originally made up the Center’s radio program. https://open.spotify.com/show/5Yeo5PhoEelWIpuC6cYERE
