Planting water in lands of lives
The video “Planting water in lands of lives” presents the experience of Maria Diva, a black woman from the Sertao region who is an agrobiodiversity guardian, accessing the System of Reuse of Gray Water (RAC). This is an action developed in Araripe Sertao and Pajeú Sertao of Pernambuco, in the Northeast of Brazil, by organizations CAATINGA and CENTRO SABIÁ, with the support of Cáritas Schweiz, as an estrategy for coexisting with the Semiarid. In the reuse system, the water thrown away after domestic activities passes through a physical filter e then it is ready to be reused in the production, for exemple in the Agroforestry Systems (SAFs). The short movie also presents the results of research held by the partners Embrapa Semiarid and by the Studies, Researches and Agroecological practices in the Semiarid Center (Neppas/UFRPE) about the quality of RAC water. The video tells this story through the 2D animation technique.
