In tune with the future – Cantos do Sabiá
João Lucas França – Broadcaster and communicator for the Sabiá Center.

Welcome to the future! And in the midst of the revelry, the parties and our Carnival, we’ve come to talk about a more than original banner: the banner of our struggle for an agroecological future! Remember a whole year when we talked about what 2026 should be like, that 2026 was coming and that the political agendas would be back? Well, we’re here. But what kind of future do we need to look towards?
When we look at the environmental, food and climate challenges we faced in 2025, what is left to think about for 2026? How can we enter a new year in tune with nature?
Today, in the midst of the carnival revelry and the festivities that are taking place in Pernambuco and throughout Brazil, we’re going to take a look at the main environmental, political and climate movements that we’ve experienced recently, in order to think about the future of our environment and living in different climates. After all, what climate do we have going into 2026?
And for this conversation, we’re joined by someone who has already taken part in many of our talks and who, once again, comes to tell us the truth: Maria Cristina, general coordinator of the Sabiá Center, agronomist, agroecology and human rights activist.

Cantos do Sabiá is the Sabiá Center Podcast! Weekly we discuss agroecology, sustainability and politics in the countryside and in the city!
